‘Green’ meetings in Thailand

The THAILAND CONVENTION AND EXHIBITION BUREAU (TCEB) first launched its Green Meetings programme three years ago. This initiative hoped to raise environmental awareness within Thailand’s MICE industry, to reduce waste, conserve energy, and use natural, recyclable materials as far as possible. The campaign was embraced by the industry, which has since seen major improvements in all these areas.

Today, TCEB continues to encourage Thai MICE operators to do more, and to bolster their capability to comply with the ISO 50001 standard, “because we believe that efficient energy management is both good for the planet, and will also contribute to the sustainability and competitiveness of the nation’s MICE industry in the long run. We are confident that in reaching compliance with the ISO 50001, Thailand will be recognized not just for its myriad other attractions and great value, but also as a world-class Green Destination”.

IT&CMA and CTW 2011 delegates participate in the ‘Shoebox of Love' initiative

Thank you to all IT&CMA and CTW 2011 delegates for participating in the ‘Shoebox of Love' initiative.

Contributions were in the form of ‘shoeboxes’ (containing toiletries, clothing, stationery and toys) and cash donations for the less fortunate children in initiatives elected homes and orphanages. In addition to this many delegates bought souvenirs from the Carry for Kids booth at the event which helped to raise funds.

IT&CMA & CTW, in cooperation with Carry for Kids and Destination Asia, continues to give back to society through the Carry for Kids project for the 8th year. All delegates and visitors to Asia’s Only Doublebill Event In MICE and Corporate Travel are requested to ‘put their hearts into action’ by carrying a “Shoebox of Love”, with necessities such as toiletries, clothing, stationery and toys, to the event in Bangkok. Make the gift extra special by wrapping it and possible even including a personal note for a child. All ''Shoeboxes of Love'' and donations can be dropped off at the Carry for Kids booth during IT&CMA and CTW 2011 (Level 22, Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld) from 4 - 6 October 2011.
